My Approach

Susan Reed MSSW, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker, Certified EMDR therapist, and EMDRIA Approved Consultant & Trainer in the DFW area. Ms. Reed graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Upon graduation, Ms. Reed worked with women in crisis and transition at the Women's Center of Tarrant County.

Ms. Reed completed her MSSW from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1994. She worked with elder adults in an intensive outpatient setting as the Program Coordinator, then with children and families with Family Assessment and Intervention Resources, completing her supervision requirements for licensure.

At that time, she became a military spouse and began moving about the country, working in several settings and attaining licensure in several states. She focused on trauma, crisis and transition with individuals of all ages. Her favorite work involves combat veterans, 1st responders and those with other traumatic experiences.

Her training and approach to change is primarily EMDR Therapy and Adaptive Informational Processing model. EMDR is an integrating treatment, meaning that it works with memories, beliefs, emotions, and body sensations to desensitize and reprocess unprocessed material that remains locked in the self, activating with current day triggers. Ms. Reed also uses a mix of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies, Transactional Analysis and Motivational Interviewing to address change and its roadblocks. She believes healing is possible, even after severe trauma, because of the body’s amazing resilience and capacity for growth and serenity, as created and given through the grace of God.
